Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds soul gospel jazz and R&B in a signature mix. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway to the Democratic National Convention to the European scene of clubs and festivals. Sunshine is the daughter of Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career singing and playing the piano at church. She studied at Spellman College and began to study the R&B styles of Atlanta. The very first song to feature her voice was called Stalk You the Japanese version of 12; since then it has been remixed and a component of her set. The Fighting Temptations was the second soundtrack that she sang on. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage show Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director for the stage production of Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine came to national notice during the four performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
